We present in this paper a use case for Business Intelligence in the Cloud. The use case is a case study where all three environments - Development (DEV), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Production (PROD) - in the life cycle of the implementation of Oracle Business Intelligence Applications (OBIApps) are hosted as an Amazon EC2 Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The drivers for implementing BI in the cloud are discussed in the paper and so is the technical architecture of the BI Cloud setup vis-a-vis the source on-premise Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) data that is used for analytics. The implementation results in all three cloud-based services: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS, Amazon EC2), Platform as a Service (PaaS, Oracle Business Analytics Warehouse - OBAW) and Software as a Service (SaaS, OBI Apps). Security concerns are discussed in the context of the VPC architecture.
