Managing Linear Assets using Oracle EAM

Linear Assets such as Utility pipelines, Roads/Highways, Rail Networks and Telecom/Power Cable Networks are the life line of the civic life today. Such critical assets are to be maintained round the clock for maximizing their upkeep using applications that are reliable and integrated. Oracle Enterprise Asset Management integrates seamlessly with GIS soultions such as Oracle Spatial , Google Maps to plot and visualize the asset span in a geo-spatial space. This helps immensely in the planning and execution of operation and maintenance procedures on the assets and keep them running in the best condition. Various details of the Linear Asset Management feature and their benefits will be discussed in this paper.

Arunkumar Kaliappan is currently working with Oracle Applications development organization as Senior Principal Product Manager in the E-Business Suite Supply Chain group. His current role involves activities like designing and developing products and features in Asset Life cycle Management area & work closely with partner and customer communities across geographies on promoting,validating and enhancing the product.

Arunkumar has an overall experience of 17 years with the last 10 years of  it in Oracle Corporation- across development & consulting organizations. Prior to joining Oracle,Arunkumar has worked in the Manufacturing industries for about 7 years in roles such as Plant Maintenance and Operations. Arunkumar holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Annamalai University and he has done M.S. Manufacturing Management from BITS-Pilani. He is also Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by APICS.
